Miguel, don't be such a hater. Some of us have bought all of Dick Cheney's CDs and love them. Say what you will about the man and his reprehensible politics, but he has a gift for thoughtful songwriting. And the bass line! The cuts produced by Timbaland especially kick ass.

The only reason I knew Nedick's was because I've eaten there. A fine hot dog, not thrilling, but fine.

I'll have to check out the crossynergy Paul Newman puzzle. Thanks for pointing it out.

Have I been writing the wrong dates on my post headings?

I found Jackson to be culturally bizarre and professionally amazing (in his 20s and 30s). He seemed to have dealt very badly with getting older and losing his mojo, which just spiraled out of control.

I hope to remember him as the great performer he was, and eventually forget about all the crazy, weird stuff.

Or the other way around. :)

Roberto Duran popularized the phrase 'No Mas' when he quit against Sugar Ray Leonard, so when I was invited to a company dinner in Atlanta and the restaurant was named No Mas, I wondered why. The reason is that after the first course you are ready to leave and find a taco truck.
You know, I understand some people being uneasy with Michael Jackson as a person, but as an artist he was amazing for a good long while. However, those that get incensed by him tend to be okay with Dick Cheney, who had no talent and was far creepier. I had a bet that George Bush would grow up before Michael Jackson and now will never know.

In the same vein as the marching band, please enjoy "Thriller" as performed a cappella by the Amherst Zumbyes:

My sister reminded me this weekend that I did own the Thriller album at one point, although I did not own anything sequiny. I also had a cassette tape of Dare to Be Stupid, copied by a classmate who was a Weird Al zealot, which subsequently got me hooked. That's how we did things before file sharing.

Nedick's was a bit too New Yorky an answer for me to know today. With sequiny and New Yorky, I've now become a serial 'y' abuser. But admitting the problem is the first rehabby step. (D'oh!)

I still don't know how David Kahn writes these things up so quickly, unless he preps some of these things in advance, much like news obit departments. Pretty impressive.

There was a CrosSynergy puzzle about Paul Newman last fall (http://crosswordfiend.blogspot.com/2008/10/saturd...

I Googled Nedick's because I'd never, ever heard of it. Apparently the chain was dead for a while but it was started up again by new owners.

Ryan and Brian, you are living in a time warp. Yesterday was three years ago and today is yesterday. Will it be the weekend tomorrow? Pretty please?
