My dictionary has both "nonplused" and "nonplussed" with the same definition. However I would pronounce the first way "nonploozed".

Pat: I thought you ALWAYS had a bib at crossword tournaments... :)

Orange: I don't know those other books, but I was pleased to re-discover "Thirteen" just a few years ago when raiding my parents' basement. I'll have to check out the other titles you mentioned.

Miguel: If this puzzle was tricky, relax and LET UP, NEW SOLVE tomorrow. (Funny, I was expecting a slightly different angle from someone who LOVES LEET W PUN s) :).
(Nasty one to anagram, as you can tell).

Soup at Lollapuzzoola? Great, now I'll have to remember to bring a bib.

I bet that Christina Applegate is a very neat eater, no bib for her.

The anagram today is not entirely new to me. I was driving in the Baja and came across a small Levee Town. They sold owl leather, making it a OWL PELT VENUE. I was Plused.

Brian, I think I was a soupçon too old to have seen Thirteen when I was little. But Remy Charlip is a geeeeenius. Arm in Arm was a terrific introduction to wordplay (I still have the original hardcover chewed up by our dog in the '70s) and has the same sort of watercolor artwork as your book, and Mother, Mother, I Feel Sick, Send for the Doctor Quick, Quick, Quick was also much loved (I have a new hardcover of this one).
